Law can be explained as a system of regulations and rules that are created by an authority in a certain country or community, which when not followed, can result in some sort of punishment or penalty. Law can also be described as a brand of justice. Law is one of the most sought after and long-standing professions in India and has always been one of the most popular courses for Indian students to pursue. There are mainly four types of law which are criminal law, civil law, corporate law, and business law.

  • People from different streams and academic backgrounds can pursue law after class 12 or graduation. 3-year LLB can be pursued after class 12th, but 5-year LLB, LLM, BBA LLB, BSc LLB, or BCom LLB are courses in law after graduation; meaning they require candidates to have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized University.
  • CLAT, LSAT, AILET, and AIBE are national-level Law Entrance Exams. 
  • National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, NLU New Delhi, Nalsar University of Law, Hyderabad, and West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata are among the Top Law Colleges in India.
  • Law course fees range from INR 5,000 to INR 5,00,000 yearly.
  • Law being a vast field for pursuing a career offers a good number of specializations like Media Law, International Law, Air, and Space Law, Corporate Law, Cyber Law, etc.
